Vol. 11 Issue 3

An estimated 500 alumni and friends returned to campus for a joyous Homecoming weekend of special events, a 28-21 win against Stony Brook, beautiful weather, and the kickoff of a yearlong celebration of the 40th anniversary of coeducation at Lafayette. The tailgate on the Quad included great performances by Cadence, Chorduroys, the Pep Band, and Cheerleaders.

In two weeks, we will have the great pleasure of presenting our annual alumni volunteer awards as well as recognizing this year’s recipient of the George Washington Kidd Class of 1836 Award – Donald E. Morel Jr. ’79. The award is presented to an individual for the achievement of distinction in his or her career. Chairman of the board and chief executive officer of West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc., Morel has more than 20 years’ experience developing and managing programs involving advanced materials for aerospace, biomedical, and pharmaceutical applications. The Joseph E. Bell ’28 Award, which honors distinguished service to the College or the Association, will go to Nancy Brennan Lund ’74. Lund, an emerita trustee, has been an active and committed volunteer having served in many capacities including as trustee from 1992 to 2007, a member of the 40th Anniversary Coeducation Committee, the Council of Lafayette Women, the Campaign Advisory Board, and as an Alumni Admissions Representative. Lund is senior vice president, marketing, Altria Client Services, Inc. of Philip Morris USA.

The 146th meeting of Lafayette and Lehigh is only a few weeks away. Don’t forget to register for the indoor tailgate through the Alumni web site. And, if you can’t be here, you can register for one of the more than 50 telecast gatherings around the country and in London, England. I look forward to seeing you on campus!

Sincerely,
Sherri Jones
Director of Alumni Affairs
