For the past six years I have had the privilege of serving as your director of alumni affairs. Recently I accepted a position at Columbia University as senior executive director of alumni relations and communications beginning in February. My last day at Lafayette will be January 28. I have enjoyed my time at Lafayette immensely and on behalf of my team, I want to thank our dedicated alumni for helping us build a strong and dynamic alumni office.

With your assistance and volunteer leadership, we have tripled our outreach and connectivity through expanded regional chapters, relevant and meaningful programs and events, as well as enhanced connections with our students and faculty. Because of your participation and leadership, the alumni office is poised to achieve even greater things. Thank you for all that you have done to make this possible. Beth Nelson ’96, associate vice president of development and alumni affairs, will be filling in while the search is being conducted.

The campus is quiet during January when many students are away, some engaged in the intensive academic interim-abroad courses and others participating in externships that many of you (as well as some of our parents) have so generously made possible.

Don’t forget to gather with fellow alumni to join in the “Wine 3/9” toast on Wednesday, March 9, in celebration of the founding of Lafayette College on March 9, 1826.

Our celebration of the 40th anniversary of coeducation continues this semester with the March 3-5 performance of First Among Men, an updated production of We Were Pioneers. In addition, the first Women of Lafayette Reunion for Classes 1972, 1973, and 1974 will be held April 29 on campus.

I hope you will join us for one of these upcoming events!
